Sam Allardyce eyes USMNT coaching job

Former England manager competes with Laurent Blanc to lead the U.S. National team

USMNT ALLARDYCE BLANC / At the beginning of October, USMNT traveled back to the USA after having lost a bloody away match against Trinidad & Tobago and having said 'adios' to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

The country is still in shock for that early elimination to the most important International competition for national teams and Bruce Arena decided to resign from his USMNT coaching job.

Reportedly, the U.S. Soccer Federation is screening the market to find the right man to boost the U.S. soccer once more. U.S. Soccer president Sunil Gulati stated that the team needs a manager able to take care of the squad at 360 degrees. The final decision should be taken in November.

USMNT, Can Allardyce lead the team to its previous position of dominance in CONCACAF?

Two coaches are competing for the USMNT coaching job at this time, Sam Allardyce and Laurent Blanc. According to 'ESPN FC', the former England manager believes that he could be the right candidate to restore the U.S. previous position of dominance in CONCACAF.

On the other side, French outlet 'France Football' reported that Laurent Blanc would be willing to take this challenge to reshape the USMNT bringing it back on track.

Although, as previously stated, a decision should be taken in November, the U.S. Soccer president Sunil Gulati also stated that the federation needs time to decide which candidate best fit with the USMNT expectations.

“There are two different processes going on at this time. We could hire a short-term coach to lead the team from November to March and then pick the right candidate for a long-term position.”
