MLS, Chicago Fire, Schweinsteiger pondering about his future

The German star believes in the quality of his team even after a miserable defeat against RBNY

MLS SCHWEINSTEIGER CHICAGO FIRE / Yesterday, Chicago Fire was kicked out from the AUDI 2017 MLS Playoffs after having suffered a terrible home defeat against New York Red Bulls. Jesse Marsch's men outperformed the Fire scoring four goals at Toyota Park.

The day after, Fire's fans and staff are still disappointed and questioning themselves about the future of their star, Bastian Schweinsteiger

The former Germany International played only the last 30 minutes of the match. He replaced Mihajlovic in the 65th minute after he picked up an injury. In that moment, New York Red Bulls was leading the match 0-2 and the German star wasn't able to make an impact.

Is Bastian Schweinsteiger staying with Chicago Fire?

Fans are scared! Yesterday's match could have been his last game with the Reds. Coach Paunovic expressed his willingness to work with Bastian the next season as well but he has also stated that only the managers and the player can decide what to do.

“I want him back to Chicago because he is an added value for all of us, on and off the field.”

General Manager Rodriguez seemed to be optimistic about the future of the player. “Our plan was to talk with Schweinsteiger at the end of the season to assess the situation. What I know is that he and his wife are pretty comfortable in this city, actually, they love it.

He also seems to be pretty involved with the MLS. That being said, the signs are positive but we still have to talk about his future.”

Bastian Schweinsteiger is happy in Chicago and he is confident that this team can make a leap in quality just adding a few new players to the roster. “This season was great for us. The team just need a little bit of time to improve even more, perhaps by adding one or two players we could do better.”
