NYC FC’s coach believes that his striker is the most important player in the Major League Soccer
MLS MVP NYC FC VIEIRA VILLA / The MLS Regular Season is now over and the NYC FC reached their preliminary goal, the qualification to the playoffs without playing the first knockdown match. Patrick Vieira's guys finished second in the Eastern Conference after having played another thrilling match a few days ago against Columbus Crew.
The 2-2 final result was good for the franchise of New York City that is now looking forward to the playoffs with confidence. Shortly, will be the moment to elect the MLS MVP of the year too. NYCFC coach Patrick Vieira believes Villa has the necessary skills to get the award for a second straight year. The Spaniard is a key component for his team thanks to his qualities on and off the field.
Villa challenges Valeri as MLS MVP of the year
Right after the last match against Columbus, Vieira was asked about this trophy and stated: “I believe that the MVP of the year should be a player able to make the difference in his club. It's important to look at the consistency of the players, the games they’ve played.
In light of that, I would vote for David for the MVP this year.”
The MLS MVP voting ends Monday and probably thanks to his last performance, David Villa put himself just ahead of Portland’s Diego Valeri. These are the two best players of the MLS Regular Season. It's going to be interesting to see who will win this important award.
