A Turkish tycoon for Newcastle. Ülker pays €246m to purchase the club

According to the ‘Evening standard’, Murat Ülker could acquire Newcastle’s majority stake soon

NEWS NEWCASTLE ASHLEY ULKER / Rumors are stating that Turkish’s richest man is ready to make a sensational offer to purchase the British side, €246m.

Newcastle’s situation is complicated at this time. The current owner, Sports Direct founder Ashley, unveiled his intention to sell the club after having managed the team for ten years. Ashley also mentioned that he would like to end his commitment with Newcastle by Christmas.

Reportedly, Murat Ülker was following the performances of the club for months and Ashley’s statement triggered his intention to make an offer and become the first Turkish owner of a top European club.

Ülker faces competition to purchase Newcastle United

According to Forbes, Ülker is worth almost $4 billion but the tycoon must face competition from financier Amanda Staveley. Chinese investors targeted Newcastle as well.

Newcastle’s future could be brighter than ever. The sale will end a troubled Ashley’s era made of two relegations and crazy highs and lows.

Currently, managers of the British clubs declined to comment these rumors. Apparently, the club could change owner in the next few months.
