Raising funds for a gigantic statue for Gigi Riva
Pietro Porcella (journalist), Giovanni Dore (lawyer), Ferdinando Secchi (assessor to the Social Services of the municipality), Oliviero Salvago (bank director), and Adriano Reginato (Cagliari's former goalkeeper when the club won the title) launched this interesting proposal.
“Let's make a statue for Gigi Riva – they stated. This is going to be in honor of the sporting and human value of the still current best Italian national team goalscorer.”
The committee has created an association to raise funds in order to build a gigantic statue for Gigi Riva. The statue will feature his historic value on the field.
'Rombo di Tuono' (thunder rumble, the nickname given by fans to the amazing striker) was a bit skeptical about this project but then he decided to support the idea.
“What are my teammates that won the title with me going to say about this statue? – stated Gigi Riva demonstrating his humanity and respect for others' work.”
Everyone can participate in this project. An economic remuneration is welcome from any sports and commercial company. Reportedly, the committee accepts suggestions about the location where the statue should be built, the name of the artist that should realize it, as well as how to represent Gigi Riva in the statue.
