Messi suggested the purchase of the Atletico Madrid’s French star

PSG sealed a stunning and super expensive deal for the Brazilian striker Neymar Jr. The French side decided to pay his buyout clause (€222 million), and the player happily accepted the move. However, that deal triggered a kind of domino effect.
In the last few days of the transfer window, Barcelona was deperately searching for Neymar's replacement. The Balugrana approached Liverpool FC's Coutinho but the deal didn't go through.
According to the Spanish outlet 'Mundo Deportivo', Barcelona made a €139 million offer to Atletico Madrid for France international Antoine Griezmann. Allegedly, Lionel Messi recommended the player to Barcelona's management.
Reportedly, Griezmann refused Barcelona's offer also because the 'Colchoneros' wouldn't have been able to replace him due to the restrictions on the transfer market that UEFA imposed to Diego Simeone's club.
Spanish outlets are also reporting that Barcelona and Manchester United are still interested in signing the French star. Both clubs should approach Atletico Madrid again in January. Reportedly, Griezmann would be willing to move to Manchester United in order to try a different experience in the competitive Premier League.
