Vucinic as Osvaldo and Platini, he retired too early

The Montenegrin wants to play again

VUCINIC / Former Roma and Juventus striker Mirko Vucinic released an interview to ‘Il Romanista’.

“If a team wants me to play, I am ready. I still want to kick a ball.”

Although this is Vucinic’s current desire, it seems to be the moment for him to end his professional career…unless crazy offers are brought to his table…Lecce was interested in him.

The 34-year-old striker is not ready to give up! However, he picked up a serious knee injury and spent his last four years at Al-Jazira. In light of that, his career seems to be over.

Mirko Vucinic can be included in the list of those players that retired too early.

From Boniek to Platini, champions that retired too early

Several of these footballers played in the Italian Serie A leaving great memories. We can mention Zbigniew Boniek and Michel Platini. Both players retired from their professional activity when they were just 32, after having won several trophies with their clubs and national teams.

After 13 years of admirable career, Boniek decided to step down even due to his last unsuccessful season with Roma

The Frenchman, instead, suddenly decided to retire after having suffered from physical issues when he was still playing with Juventus. Platini justified his decision saying that he was unable to reach a great physical shape anymore and this could have compromised his performances on the field.

Even the Dutchman Marco Van Basten suffered bad injuries. His ankle affected his life and his professional career. The guy from Utrecht could have been a top champion but he gave up after having passed through troubled years. He underwent four surgeries and saluted everyone when he was just 29.

In that period, former Milan’s CEO Adriano Galliani stated: “Football loses its Leonardo Da Vinci”

Didier Deschamps retirement happened for a different reason though. The Frenchman ended his professional activity when he turned 33 and after having won several trophies with Juventus and with his national team. Didier decided to start a new career as a manager.

Former Roma Japanese star Hidetoshi Nakata won the Serie A title with the Lupi in 2001 but then he decided to return to his homeland to start a new career as an entrepreneur. He is producing high-level sakè!

In order to return to recent memories, we can talk about Pablo Daniel Osvaldo. The Argentine striker retired from football when he turned 31 to become a new career in music. Now he is touring in South America with his band.
