Calcagno: “Serie A more balanced. The national team…”

Roma to discover while Napoli could be the “surprise” of the Champions League

TRANSFER MARKET SERIE A CHAMPIONS LEAGUE ITALY CALCAGNO / Mikaela Calcagno, a journalist, and presenter for 'Mediaset', released an interview to Calciomercato.it.  

“SCUDETTO? After six consecutive victories, Juventus is definitely the favorite but the current Serie A is more balanced. Napoli has confirmed its entire roster. They play marvelously as Sarri wants. Roma is a team that we have to “discover”, then the two clubs of Milan are back with great ambitions and excitement. 

A possible surprise? It's difficult to say something right now. I believe that the real Serie A begins this Sunday. I expect a Fiorentina very different from that that we have seen so far.

TRANSFER MARKET? Milan is definitely the club that changed the most. They purchased important players, moreover Bonucci. Inter, instead, coped with the Financial Fair Play regulations. Their acquisitions were moderate. It's true, we were expecting something more from Inter. But Spalletti's team is ambitious and they could trade some players in January.

Juventus purchased ad-hoc players. I am very curious about Roma. The giallorossi have changed a lot, coach included. Schick is a great investment for the long term but we have to assess his ability to cope with a complicated environment full of pressures.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE? We can say that Juventus is a big European team. The Bianconeri will face Barcelona at the Camp Nou Stadium with confidence. I also believe that Napoli is pretty fine. They can play against everyone right now. They could be the real “surprise” of this Champions League. As I previously said, I am very curious about Roma because they changed a lot of players.

NATIONAL TEAM? We are all coaches in Italy. We love to choose our favorite players and those who should start. But it's true that we were expecting something more from the team. We were hoping to play well even against Spain. It was disappointing to lose at the Bernabeu in that way.

However, this national team is passing through a construction phase. The team needs time but we are hoping that the coach will be able to change something to give these players the opportunity to perform better. Certainly, we expect that this national team will be able to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.”
