Amanda Staveley chasing Newcastle or Liverpool FC majority stake

The leading financier is believed to be considering acquiring a Premier League club soon

NEWS STAVELEY NEWCASTLE LIVERPOOL / The match between Newcastle United and Liverpool FC that took place at St James’ Park earlier this month could have been Amanda Staveley's preliminary approach to make an offer for one of these two Premier League clubs.

Reportedly, the tycoon seems to be ready to acquire a club soon and she is assessing the best strategy to launch a final attack to purchase the majority stake of a Premier League club to enter the world of football.

According to 'The Sunday Mirror', she is considering up to five as prospective purchases, Newcastle United and Liverpool FC are in her mind too. This is the reason why the financier spent time with Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez and managing director Lee Charnley. However, Staveley also spent time with Liverpool FC's managers.

Undoubtedly, nowadays, Newcastle United and Liverpool FC are teams with different objectives. The first has a great growth potential and it could be ready to enter the Premier League elite. The latter is already a well-established British powerhouse. Both investments could be suitable for Amanda Staveley and her firm which has global assets of more than £28billion.

Calciomercato.it already reported that Newcastle United is up for sale. Several tycoons joined the race to purchase this glorious club at this time.

In June, Newcastle United's owner, Ashley, did not deny reports that a Chinese consortium was interested in buying the club. Mike Ashley bought Newcastle for £134m in 2007 and he is ready to sell the club for a premium.

On the other side, Staveley's goal to purchase Liverpool FC's majority stake could be more difficult. Liverpool’s owner Fenway Sports Group, an American sports investment company, and its leading investor John William Henry II, an American businessman and investor and the founder of John W. Henry & Company, are totally committed in the development of the club at this time.
